Misela Istanbul – Monogram Mania
What does Lauren Regan love more than chic, practical accessories? Personalised chic, practical accessories and then getting lots of compliments on them, of course. And I’m not alone in my narcissism – Goyard has been monogramming our waterproof canvas since the 1750’s and Anya Hindmarch’s ‘Be-A-Bags’ were a thing back when I still wore stonewash denim and Maybelline’s Dream Matte Mousse. An embarrassing amount of hours have been spent perusing my personalisation opportunities. These include (but certainly aren’t limited to) towels, gold hoop earrings and personalised t-shirts that on reflection question my dignity.
One things for damn sure – my ego isn’t going anywhere and thankfully the accessories continue to oblige me. Enter Misela, the Turkish-based leather goods brand brand and my obsession of the moment. Founded in 2008 by Rhode Island School of Design graduate Serra Turker, the collection is inspired by her cultural heritage and the dynamism of her hometown, Istanbul. I am enamoured by the magical prints, chic colour-ways and the beautifully simple lines of each piece. I am currently touting the Lara bag which I refuse to put down however I have my beady eye on practically everything in the collection.
